Everyone loves cupcakes, especially when throwing a party. Many people would like to decorate their cupcakes like a professional but aren't quite sure how. One way is to decorate according to the current season. All it takes is some practice and soon your cupcake decorations will have everyone asking if you are a pro at your next gathering. Add this to my Recipe Box.
Spring
In the spring, our thoughts turn to Easter and the impending summer. Butterflies are a sure sign that spring is in the air. Use a bright color for the icing to decorate your own butterfly cupcakes, and use pastel candies to demarcate the the body and wings before adding two tiny pieces of licorice for the antennas. Always make sure to use colorful frosting and high quality candy pieces to get a professional look.
Halloween
The air is crisp and the smell of freshly burning leaves assaults your senses at this time of the year. Halloween cupcakes are a must, and you can decorate them with bats, ghosts, witches or any other type of ghoulish creature that suits your fancy. One option is the eyeball design. These are easy to make and just as easy to decorate. After baking your cupcakes, simply frost them with a generic white color then take an Atomic Fireball candy and place it in the middle of the cupcake. Carefully pipe red gel icing from the Fireball to the sides of the cupcake for a veiny effect.
Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is a time for feasting, and cupcakes are a perfect follow-up to a turkey dinner. Some of the choices for decorations include turkeys and pumpkins. For pumpkin-decorated cupcakes, look for a cupcake tin that is already in the shape of a pumpkin. After baking, frost it with bright orange frosting before using green frosting to create a stem and black for the eyes, nose and mouth if a jack-o'-lantern is preferred. Your little ones will thank you every time for this Thanksgiving treat.
