How to Decorate White Cupcake Boxes

So you've taken the time to make a beautiful batch of homemade cupcakes to present as a gift. The easiest way to present them is in a cupcake box, which is usually a plain white box. That plain white box won't do much to impress the recipient. Make your gift stand out by decorating the box; you can decorate a cupcake box in a variety of ways. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Paint the box. If you have artistic skills, decorate the box using acrylic paint. Paint the box a bright color such as neon green or hot pink so that it will stand out. You can also draw whimsical cupcakes on the sides and paint a sign that says that you made the cupcakes. For instance, if your name is Sarah you could paint a sign on the top of the box that says, "From Sarah's Bake Shop."

Decorate with ribbon and bows. There's nothing more elegant than a simple box wrapped in colorful ribbon and a big bow. Choose a big elaborate ribbon with a matching bow. Ribbon types include satin, taffeta and organza. Select a bright-colored bow, or the favorite color of the person receiving the gift.

Draw elegant calligraphy on the box. If you are adept in the calligraphy style of writing or know someone who is, you can decorate the box using a black felt-tip permanent marker. Write the person's name in calligraphy cursive all over the box. You can also write the word cupcakes all over the box, or a list of attributes of the person receiving the gift. Don't write the words in neat little rows, write them all over the box on angles, upside down, and in funky patterns.

Tips

- Paint the box the night before you place the cupcakes in it that it will be completely dry and ready for use.
