Tinkerbell Cupcake Ideas

Complete your Tinkerbell party with fairy-inspired cupcakes celebrating this cute pixie from the Peter Pan story, cartoons and movies. If time is short when it comes to decorating your cupcakes, purchase plain frosted cupcakes from a bakery and customize to fit in with your Tinkerbell theme. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Picks and Toppers

Decorate frosted cupcakes quickly with Tinkerbell plastic figures, cupcake picks or ready-made icing decorations. Cupcake picks are plastic figures or pictures attached to a skewer that is pushed down into the center of a cupcake for an easy decoration. Wilton offers Tinkerbell cupcake picks, cake toppers and icing decorations for sale on the Wilton website and you may be able to find similar items in craft stores or cake decorating supply shops. Artistic cake decorators may be able to sculpt their own Tinkerbell cake topper from fondant or gum paste.

Tinkerbell's Shoes

The Disney Family website provides an alternative to attempting to sculpt Tinkerbell from fondant, which may be difficult for novice cake decorators. Instead, make Tinkerbell's shoes and arrange the shoes on the top of frosted cupcakes as if the pixie had just kicked them off after a long day of thinking happy thoughts. The shoes are formed from green fondant that is rolled into oval shaped balls. Press a wooden spoon handle into one end of the oval to form the opening of the shoe. Add a round candy to the top of the shoe with frosting as decoration, if desired.

Fairy Dust

Make Tinkerbell-inspired cupcakes by coating frosted cupcakes with fairy dust. Use brightly colored sugar crystals, which can usually be found on the baking supply aisle of grocery stores. Frost the cupcakes with white icing to make the sugar stand out and roll the top of the cupcake or just the edges of the cupcake in a shallow dish filled with the colored sugar. Use several different colors of sugar if desired to add bright bursts of color and tell guests that Tinkerbell sprinkled fairy dust onto the cupcakes.

Tinted Cake Batter

Surprise guests with magical fairy cupcakes by adding a few drops of food coloring to white cake batter before you bake your cupcakes. When guests break open the cupcake, a bright and colorful interior will be revealed. Paste food coloring will render brighter colors than liquid food coloring but keep in mind that the color will probably be lighter after the cupcakes are baked. You can also add colored sprinkles to the batter or press a candy into the center of each cupcake before baking for added surprise.
