Cute & Glittery Girly Cake Ideas

Whether you need a cake for a girl's birthday, for a bachelorette party or for a get-together with some good friends, choose something cute, glittery and feminine. For almost any type of glittery cake, you will need to purchase edible glitter, which is available online and at specialty baking stores. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Accessories

For girls who enjoy all of the latest accessories, make a cake that looks like a popular accessory. One simple idea is to make a string of pearls out of cupcakes. Frost each with white icing, sprinkle edible glitter on them to make them shimmer like pearls and line them up on a serving platter. Another girly idea is to cut a sheet cake into the shape of a purse and decorate it with edible glitter and candies.

Spring Themes

Spring colors and themes are often considered to be cute and girly, so use them for inspiration, especially if the cake is for a spring occasion. Cut a round cake into the shape of a flower and frost it with the girl's favorite color. Pipe white frosting to distinguish between the petals and sprinkle edible glitter in each petal. Another spring idea is to make a butterfly cake. Either cut a sheet cake into a butterfly shape or bake butterfly-shaped sugar cookies on wooden skewers, add icing and glitter, and put them on any type of cake.

Stars

If a girl enjoys stars or aspires to be a superstar, like an actor or singer, make a star-themed birthday cake for her. Cut a round cake into the shape of a star, frost it with her favorite color and add multicolored edible glitter for some shimmer. Another idea is to decorate a cake to look like a Hollywood red carpet by putting a strip of red fondant on a white cake. Make glitter-coated cardboard stars and use toothpicks or wooden skewers to put the stars beside the red carpet.

Princess Cakes

For a young girl's birthday cake, choose her favorite princess character and use colored icing to decorate a sheet cake with a picture of that princess. Add edible glitter to the princess's dress to make it shimmer. Or, if the girl prefers fairies, opt for a fairy picture instead and add the edible glitter to the fairy's wings.
