Pretty Cupcake Decorating Ideas

Small and pretty cupcakes are appealing to the eye and the perfect indulgence. Decorating your own cupcakes is a joy. Be creative and let the decorations mirror your personality. Choose a color theme that reflects the season and your own personal style. Sparkling decorations and sprinkles can be found in special shops, online, or even your local supermarket. Choose ribbons and pretty paper cases to match your cupcakes. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Cupcakes With Jewelry

Match the color of the frosting with a ribbon. Tie the ribbon with fake jewelry attached around the paper case. Sprinkle silver beads over the frosting to complement the jewelry. Alternatively, place an edible sugar diamond on top of the frosting.

Pretty Lid

Pipe or spread white or yellow frosting with a spatula. Make a round decoration using either marzipan or sugar paste. Sugar paste dries quicker. Choose pastel colors such as light blue or light green and cut out a circle. Use a size that is smaller than the top of your cupcakes. Use a different color paste such as lilac or pink. Cut out a small butterfly or flower. Gently press down the smaller shape in the middle of circle. Place the lid on top of the frosting.

A Princess Crown

Make a princess crown to put in the frosting. Use sugar paste in a color of your choice. Roll into a rectangle, approximately 4 by 1 1/4 inches. Use a knife and cut out three triangles on one of the longer sides of the rectangle. Cut down approximately half the width of sugar paste, or 3/5 inches. Start a bit into the paste and leave some bits toward the end. Trim the edge by making an angled cut the same size as the other triangle cuts. Roll the paste together and use edible glue to attach the edges. Gently fold down the edges and the crown is ready to insert in the cupcake.

Cherry Blossom

Omit the frosting and make a white lid to cover the cupcake. Use sugar paste or marzipan. Decorate the white lid with pink sugar flowers. Or make your own flowers. Place the flowers on the white sugar paste lid. Use some chocolate ganache to make branches. Place the lid over the cupcake.

Chocolate With Rosebud

Make light green frosting and pipe it in the middle of a chocolate cupcake. Do not cover the whole cupcake. Leave the edge so that the chocolate can been seen. Place a pink marzipan rose or a real rosebud in the green frosting.

Fresh Strawberries

Use a red paper case and white frosting. Pipe or spread the frosting with a spatula. Use fresh strawberries with a stalk. Cut the strawberries in half and insert in the frosting.

Raspberry and Chocolate

Pipe or spread pink frosting with a spatula. Top with fresh raspberries. Place a white chocolate stick beside or between the raspberries.
