Funny Cupcake Ideas

Cupcakes don't have to be bland or boring. No matter the occasion, you can add humor and fun to your baking creations. Candies and small plastic toys can be partnered with icing to transform your cupcakes from ordinary dessert into works of art. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Halloween Spider

Use black licorice and chocolate icing to make these festive, creepy crawlies. Ice each cupcake with chocolate icing. Use eight licorice strips as legs, partially cutting each one in the middle so they bend like spider legs. Finish with chocolate chips for eyes.

Flower Pot

Remove the paper wrap from each cupcake. Ice the sides and rim with a color of your choice for the flower pot. Cover the top with brown icing for potting soil. Insert a lollipop as a flower in the middle of the top of each cupcake.

Barbecue Grill

Using three long pieces of candy as legs, transform your cupcakes into miniature barbecue grills. Stand your grill on its legs and ice the top with dark chocolate. Use a lighter color and a piping bag to draw grill lines across the chocolate top. Finish with items being cooked, such as hot dogs and hamburgers, made from more icing.

Inner Tube

This cupcake variation is extremely simple or challenging, depending on whether you choose to use toy swimmers or fashion them yourself from icing. Top your cupcakes with blue icing for water. Choose an inner tube color and use it to make a thick circle around the rim of the cupcake. Then, garnish with small plastic figurines of people in bathing suits or create them yourself using a piping bag and icing.

Bee in a Flower

Choose a pastel color for flower petals and cover the top of your cupcakes with icing petals. Using other icing that is black and yellow for the abdomen and white for the wings, create a bee for each cupcake flower.

Corn on the Cob

Ice your cupcakes in white. Top with light and dark yellow jelly beans arranged in rows to look like corn. Complete with corn cob skewers on either side of each cupcake. To better replicate the shape of a corn cob, place several cupcakes in a row and ice them together.
